Composition news: I am excited to announce that my compositions will be published by Bergmann Editions. Since August 2018, I have written two solo suites: "Wanderlust: Through the Ages, Story of Us, It Takes Two" and "Three Nordic Sketches: Aurora Borealis, Ice, Wings Over Alta". Also I have 4 guitar orchestra pieces, a guitar duo, and a choir Christmas carol. My friends, family and fans, would you please like any of my videos and subscribe to my channel? Thank you! www.youtube.com/valeriehartzell
I'm happy to announce that I have accepted the position of classical guitar and piano tutor at the prestigious private school, Leweston School, in Dorset. I teach both at the prep and at the senior school and am enjoying teaching immensely.
"Classical Minds" Guitar Festival had it's 1st year in England & it was a huge success. Our faculty included Daniela Rossi, Mathew James, Raymond Burley & myself. classicalmindsfestival.org has videos from the concert and pics from the festival. On April 9-11, 2021, we had to go online because of Covid. We welcomed back Daniela Rossi & Mathew James and we had new faculty member, Eleanor Kelly join us from Liverpool and flamenco guitarist, Jeremy Garcia who hails from Texas (back when we were in Houston, he was a regular faculty member). All classes and lessons were on Zoom but lecture recitals and concerts were on YouTube, as Premiere events. This was a massive success and we had a one-day Workshop even that featured Eleanor, Daniela, Mathew and myself. Students at both the festival and workshop hailed from Argentina, U.K., U.S., and Switzerland. Our next workshop will be 26th of February and it will be Flamenco meets Classical Minds as I will be joining forces with Jeremy Garcia.

BBC Radio 3 invited me to perform, July 16th, 2017 on the BBC Introducing Stage at the Latitude Festival and it was an absolute honour because I was the only classical musician to be chosen from the short list of 117 people. Introducing me to the stage was Radio 3 presenter, Suzy Klein. A month later I was invited back by Radio 3 to perform live and give an interview with host Sara Mohr-Pietsch for the show "In Tune". I performed my arrangement of "Asturias" by Albéniz, "A Moment Alone" by Chris Dumigan and "Fuoco" by Roland Dyens. This was an incredible and fun experience!
English composer Paul Ibbotson asked if I would work with him on his new composition (editing, fingerings, etc), Romanza-Barcarolle and then record it. To listen, please go to Itunes.
