Valérie is an enrapturing classical guitarist...”

— BBC Introducing

Welcome to my web site! Here you will find information on upcoming events, you can watch videos, listen to radio broadcast from National Public Radio (U.S.), and purchase both CDs, Ex Tenebris Lux and Presti which were recorded at the Houston NPR studios. Ex Tenebris Lux is distributed by Soundset Recordings.

As part of the many hats I wear as a musician (concert artist, arranger, composer, teacher, conductor) I am also the Artistic Director to the "Classical Minds" Guitar Festival. It is with much sadness and frustration that Classical Minds must announce that we are moving the festival dates to a later date. As a new festival to England (we were in Texas for 14 yrs) and out of respect for our UK colleagues, we made every effort to assure no festivals were taking place around the dates chosen in October (Federation of Guitar Societies Page and Google searches showed nothing). Recently, a well established festival who took a year off, decided to put their info & dates on the Fed Page encompassing the exact same dates as CM. The dates for CM 2019 were added to the Federation Of Guitar Societies events page over a year ago. Luckily, the Foxton Village Hall venue is run by a very kind and supportive staff. We have successfully move Classical Minds to the 14 & 14 of March 2020! Along with Daniela Rossi & Mathew James, Raymond Burley will join the CM family. Originally, Raymond and I were to have a workshop on the 7th of March but it's the weekend before Classical Minds so we decided to join the workshop to CM.  Come join us for a weekend of guitar and fun!

Composition news: Am excited that I am finally composing. Since August 2018, I have written three solos as part of a set, "Three Short Stories:  Through the Ages, Bryony, It Takes Two" and I have 3 guitar orchestra pieces, a guitar duo, and a choir Christmas carol.

BBC Radio 3 invited me to perform, July 16th, 2017 on the BBC Introducing Stage at the Latitude Festival and it was an absolute honour because I was the only classical musician to be chosen from the short list of 117 people. Introducing me to the stage was Radio 3 presenter, Suzy Klein. A month later I was invited back by Radio 3 to perform live and give an interview with host Sara Mohr-Pietsch for the show "In Tune". I performed my arrangement of "Asturias" by Albéniz, "A Moment Alone" by Chris Dumigan and "Fuoco" by Roland Dyens. This was an incredible and fun experience!

English composer Paul Ibbotson asked if I would work with him on his new composition (editing, fingerings, etc), Romanza-Barcarolle and then record it. To listen, please go to Itunes

In January 2017 I was appointed Musical Director and conductor to the Cambridge Guitar Orchestra! They are a high level guitar orchestra and have a diverse and challenging repertoire. I am excited about conducting and working with them for many years to come!
